I'm Karel Decoene, a passionate a UX designer who likes to make things clear, simple and useful. I’m professionally curious about why things work (or don't work). 🙂
Personal
When I close the laptop
Outside of work, I’m the one who gets genuinely hyped about tire strategies and DRS zones (Formula 1 is life). When I’m not watching, you’ll probably find me racing at the local karting club myself.
I also like to pick up my camera, hit the gym, or run until my Strava goal is ticked off. On top of that, I’ve got a big passion for finances and investing — I enjoy learning, testing ideas, and keeping track of the bigger picture.
What excites me most is combining creativity with personal interests. That’s when projects become fun, flow naturally, and hours fly by as was the case with Pole Position (F1 hub) or Slimvesteer (personal finance blog).

At Bayer, I focus on UX design and functional analysis, shaping internal applications that translate complex business processes into clear, intuitive user experiences. I work closely with stakeholders to capture requirements, structure user flows, and ensure consistency through design systems and guidelines.
My background in UI design and front-end development supports this role, helping me bridge design with implementation.

During these 3 years I learned extensively how to make innovative, responsive websites & how to optimise them through SEO & other techniques.
In addition, we received an extensive series of UX/UI lessons that can be used on websites as well as (web)apps. I already applied this knowledge to practice during my studies through my student company Present Online.
